“Clybourne Park” Shows Up Big at the OCAs





The Costa Mesa Playhouse is abuzz with excitement as the Annual Orange Curtain Awards (OCA) nominations have been announced. Hosted by The Orange Curtain Review, the OCAs celebrate outstanding achievements in the local theater scene. Our production of Clybourne Park, directed by Michael Serna, tallied a whopping six nominations!


Best Actor: Peter Hilton (Russ/Dan)

Best Ensemble: Kudos Cast!

Best Featured Actor: Cody Aaron Hanify (Karl/Steve)

Best Featured Actress: Taj Young (Francine/Lena)

Best Featured Actress: Mia Anderson (Bev/Kathy)

Best Set: Michael Serna

As the winner of both the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play, we are thrilled to carry on the award-winning legacy of Bruce Norris's Clybourne Park and, of course, the play that inspired it all, Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun. Moreover, stories that foster important dialogues around race and gentrification.

Congrats to the entire cast and crew, and to our loyal patrons and donors who make all this possible.

In 2022, Costa Mesa Playhouse took home seven OCAs, including two Best Show nods (#2 The Whale and #4 Noises Off) Best Ensemble (Noises Off), Best Director (Michael Serna – The Whale); Best Set (Michael Serna – The Whale); Best Actor (Peter Hilton – The Whale) and Best Young Actress (Sophia White – The Whale)
