"The Whale" Makes a Splash at the OC Theater Guild Awards



Costa Mesa Playhouse (CMP) garnered three awards at the second annual OC Theater Guild Awards ceremony for its production of "The Whale." Mia Anderson (Liz) and Jack Whitaker (Elder Thomas) took home top honors for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Play, backed by an outstanding cast that took home Outstanding Ensemble in a Play.

The Whale garnered a staggering 11 nominations – the second most of any OCTG production – including “Outstanding Production.” Michael Serna was shortlisted twice for "Direction" and "Scenic Design"; Peter Hilton for "Lead Performance"; Ryan Linhardt for "Lighting Design"; and Nicholas Hirata for Costume Design."

Angel Correa (also nabbed a nomination for the role of Mitch in Costa Mesa Playhouse's production of A Streetcar Named Desire.

Last but not least, kudos to all the other theaters and nominees honored at last night's event, which has fast become a hallmark event in the local arts community. Their dedication to artistic excellence and community is a testament to Orange County's vibrant theater scene and the transformative power of theater.
